Who can I call for free Medicare counseling in Texas?

Does Medicare pay for the drive to a faraway appointment in Texas?

Usually not. Original Medicare generally covers ambulance transportation only when it is medically necessary. Some Medicare Advantage plans include ride benefits with limits, and Texas Area Agencies on Aging can point to community transportation. Ask before you book the trip.

Where do I start if Medicare costs are hard to manage in Texas?

Gather the type of cost you are asking about, then call 1-800-252-9240 and ask a benefits counselor which programs you can apply for, which documents are needed and how to track the application. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission decides Medicare Savings Program eligibility, not the counselor and not this site.

What should I do with a Medicare notice I don’t understand?

Find the sender, the document title and any response date. Call a verified number from your coverage card or an official agency website and ask for an explanation in your preferred language. If it is a denial, ask about the appeal instructions and deadline right away.
